Sabinsa Corporation marketing director Shaheen Majeed has been invited to present the keynote speech at the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit, Asia-Pacific edition, to be held in Hong Kong, November 11 - 13, 2013.
Ethical sourcing and biodiversity are a focal theme of the 3rd Asia-Pacific edition of this executive summit. Shaheen has been invited to give his keynote on the ethical dilemma facing many Asian countries: economic advancement or conservation? Although Asia has become a major source of cosmetic materials, relatively few are ethically sourced from the region. Sabinsa is pioneering the sustainability path, with a robust program partnering with farmers to source raw materials in a sustainable fashion.
The Sustainable Cosmetics Summit is a series of international summits that focuses on the leading issues the beauty industry faces concerning sustainability and ecological products by bringing together key stake-holders to discuss major issues in a high-level forum. The 3rd Asia-Pacific edition aims to raise awareness of biodiversity and encourage sustainable sourcing of cosmetic ingredients from the Asian region.
Amarjit Sahota, president of the summit organizer, comments: "We have invited Shaheen Majeed to give the opening keynote because of the ethical sourcing programmes set up by Sabinsa in Asia. We hope the keynote will inspire other companies to adopt similar sourcing practices."
"Sabinsa’s focus on sustainability is an important part of our corporate culture," said Shaheen. "I look forward to sharing our experiences developing innovative and effective cosmeceuticals while keeping sustainability front and center with other key industry stake-holders."
Also addressing the Summit will be Lalapet Chandrashekar Mahesh, General Manager of Business Development at Sabinsa discussing Ayurvedic ingredients in cosmetics.
